BX March 21, 1956

Malcolm Coubrough

Malcolm Coubrough, 5 Victoria Street, died Tuesday at the Brantford General Hospital, in his 86th year.  He was born at Inverness, Scotland, and came to Brantford 43 years ago.  He was employed with the old Adam’s Wagon Works, was a moulder with Pratt and Letchworth and before retirement 26 years ago was with Verity Plow Works.  He was a veteran of the Imperial Army, serving 17 years with the Highland Light Infantry, with seven years’ service in India.  In the First World War he served as sergeant with the 58th Battalion.  He was a charter member of the Ex-Imperial Club and a great sports enthusiast when health permitted.  He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.  Surviving Mr. Coubrough are three sons, William, David and John, and two daughters, Mrs. James (Isabella) McAfee and Miss Janet Coubrough all of Brantford; 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.  His wife died in 1939 and a daughter, Mrs. O. (Christina) Neff, three years ago.  Mr. Coubrough is resting at the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home until Friday, for service in the chapel at 3 p.m.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Malcolm Coubrough

The funeral of Malcolm Coubrough was conducted Friday afternoon at the Hill and Robinson Chapel with Rev. Dr. G. Deane Johnston of Central Presbyterian Church officiating.  There was a gathering of relatives and friends from the city and outside points, and there was a profusion of flowers which attested to the esteem in which Mr. Coubrough was held.  The pallbearers wee David Coubrough, Jr., Malcolm McAfee, grandsons of Mr. Coubrough, Jack Piper and Charles Stubbs, both of the Ex-Imperial Club.  Harvey Fraser and Sam Pizzey.  Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery.
