Lieutenant Maurice Fisken Wilkes Reported Missing
 
Lieutenant Maurice Wilkes, who has been missing since Friday, according to a cablegram received yesterday by his parents Mr. and Mrs. George H. Wilkes, is believed to have been killed. Lieutenant Wilkes was only 24 years of age, and although he enlisted as a private in the Queen's Own Rifles, by his own merits he won his commission and was attached to the 19th Battalion. He was a B.A. of Toronto University and also a qualified barrister and solicitor.

Lieutenant Maurice F. Wilkes Believed Killed

Lieutenant Maurice Fisken Wilkes of this city is today reported missing and believed killed. In September last, he was reported missing and a few days later his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George H. Wilkes, had word to the effect that he was believed to have been killed. Lieutenant Wilkes was only 24 years of age and although he enlisted as a private in the Queen’s Own Rifles, on his merit he won a commission. After receiving his commission, he was attached to a battalion, which had a Brantford company in it. He was a graduate of Toronto University and also a qualified barrister and solicitor.
