BX September 14, 1918

Official word has been received that Captain Percival Edwin James who went overseas as a company commander with the 125th Battalion, has been wounded in the left leg. Capt. James, who previously had been connected with the Dufferin Rifles, being one of the most popular officers of the regiment, was a member of James Bros. grocers before going overseas. He was transferred to the 116th Battalion and when his company commander, Capt. Baird, who had won the D.S.O. and bar, was wounded, Capt. James stepped up and took command of the company. His many friends here will hope for his speedy recovery.

JAMES – At the Brantford General Hospital, on Thursday, October 14, 1971 P.E. (Pete) James; husband of Gladys Adams of 53 Palmerston Avenue; father of Mrs. Ian F. Steven (Katharine) of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandfather of James A. Steven of Vancouver, B.C. and Mrs. James V H Harrison (Jane) of Woodbridge, Virginia; also surviving are 2 great-grandchildren. Mr. James will rest at the Beckett Funeral Home, from 2 p.m., Friday for private funeral service on Saturday, October 16, at 2 p.m. with interment in Farringdon Burial Ground. Rev. W.J. Preston of Burlington, will officiate.
