Sapper Percy Gill Reported Wounded – Well Known Paris Hockey Player Was With the Engineers

Sapper Percy Gill of Paris has been wounded according to this morning’s casualty list. Sapper Gill was connected with the Engineers. Percy Gill is 25 years of age, single, and enlisted here with the 38th D.R. of C. in July, 1915. He is one of the best known of the Paris hockey players.

PARIS – Percy S. Gill, 85 West River Street, died at the Willett Hospital on Monday.  Born in Paris, he was a plasterer but recently had been employed by Penmans Ltd.  He was a veteran of the First World War.  Surviving besides his widow, the former Myrtle Reynolds, are six sons, Ray, Brantford, and Thomas, Maury, Mark, Percy and Ross, all of Paris; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Leach and Misses Sharon and Virginia, all of Paris; four brothers, William and Gordon, both of Paris, Harold, Kitchener and Bert, Hamilton; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Micks and Mrs. Adeline Thrower, both of Kincardine and Mrs. Ethel McHutchion, Paris, and two grandchildren.  Mr. Gill is resting at the Bruce B. Smith Funeral Home.  The service will be at St. James’ Anglican Church, Wednesday at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in the Paris Cemetery.
