Veteran Home

The secretary of the Soldiers’ Aid Commission, Mr. George MacDonald, received word last evening that two returned soldiers, Lance-Corporal Peter Whelan and Pte. Howard Staats would arrive in Brantford on the 10 o’clock G.T.R. train this morning. The secretary was on the job, but only Lance-Corp. Whelan arrived. Whelan had been overseas with the 4th Battalion and it was a coincidence that he had been in Mr. MacDonald’s son’s platoon at the front. He was wounded in the leg at Vimy Ridge and walks with a limp. He lives at 196 Grey Street.
