In Honor of Volunteers
Under the auspices of the Echo Place Tennis Club, a corn roast was held last evening in Mohawk Park in honor of Percy Kirkpatrick, Ralph Gray Ashbury and Clayton Moyer, members of the club, who have enlisted for active service. Gifts were presented to the boys on behalf of the club by F.T. Morrow, the president, and a most enjoyable time was spent by all.

Ralph Ashbury, Ex-Alderman Dies at Age 76
Ralph G. Ashbury, 76, of 144 Murray Street, died today in the Brantford General Hospital.
He was born in Lynden, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ashbury, and had been a resident of Brantford for more than 60 years.
Mr. Ashbury served as alderman for Ward 4 from 1949 until 1955 and was formerly manager of the Telephone City Sand and Gravel Company, retiring in 1958.
He served overseas during the First World War with the 40th Battery, CFA and with the Militia Machine Gun Company. During the Second World War he served with the Veterans Guard of Canada.
He was a member of Branch 90, Royal Canadian Legion and of Alexandra Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Colin (Janet) Diamond, and two grandchildren, all of Brantford; one brother, Robert Ashbury of Detroit.
His wife, the former Lauren Corey, died in 1962.
Mr. Ashbury will be at the Beckett Funeral Home from Saturday evening until Monday for service at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Farringdon Burial Ground.
