Won Military Medal

Word was received by Mr. E. Woolsey, 17 Park Avenue East, that Private Richard Henry Hull of the 84th Battalion has won the Military medal for bravery in carrying in wounded soldiers on his back under heavy fire. Before enlisting he was stationary fireman at the Adams Wagon Works.

BX April 28, 1917

Private Richard Henry Hull, reported a few days ago as having won the military medal, is now reported wounded. Word was received by Mr. Edward Woolsey, 17 Park Avenue, to the effect that Pte. Richard H. Hull had been shot through the left hand. He was a runner and for bravery in the field had recently won the military medal. He was in a severe engagement at Vimy Ridge when he was wounded. He was a stationary fireman at Adams’ Wagon Works. He is an Englishman and single. His parents resided in England.

HULL – Municipal Hospital, July 26, aged 55 years.  Richard Henry, the dearly-beloved husband of Agnes Hull (nee Ready).  Interment at Sunderland Cemetery on Saturday, cortege leaving residence, 3 Westholme Terrace, at 9 a.m., for Requiem Mass St. Cecilia’s Church, at 9.30.  Interment immediately following.  Deeply mourned. R.I.P.
