Word was received by Mr. Adam Young yesterday that his son, Private Richard Young had been admitted to Ionne Hospital, suffering from gunshot wounds in the face, received August 11th.

Richard Young

Richard Young, husband of Marion Farrington, passed away suddenly Saturday evening at his residence on Power-line Road, Brantford Township.  In his 54th year, he was born in Scotland, coming to this district 46 years ago and residing here since.  He served during the First World War, leaving this city with the 215th Battalion and serving in France and Germany. Mr. Young was a member of the Brantford Branch of the Canadian Legion.  He is survived by his widow, a son, Adam, Hamilton, formerly of Brantford; a daughter, Mrs. George Hunter, Hamilton; a brother, William Young, Cainsville; three sisters, Mrs. W. Hunter, Hamilton, Miss Marion Young, Toronto, and Miss Mary Young, Brantford, the deceased resting at the Reid and Brown Funeral Chapel until Tuesday afternoon when the funeral service will be conducted. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Richard Young

The funeral of Richard Young was conducted Tuesday afternoon from Reid and Brown Funeral Chapel with Rev. J.R. Esler of Alexandra Presbyterian Church in charge.  A large gathering of relatives and friends from the rural district and city as well as a profusion of flowers testified to the esteem in which the deceased was held.  Pallbearers were Allan Turnbull, Leslie Welsh, William Summerhayes, Sherman Martin, Cecil Elliot and Vincent Farrington.  Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.
