BX September 5, 1917

Mr. and Mrs. William Lowe, 110 Brant Avenue, received word on Monday that their son Samuel Henry Lowe, infantry, was officially reported to have been admitted to the 18th General Hospital Camiers, on August 21, having been gassed and wounded by shell splinters. He was a textile worker at the Slingsby Mills before enlistment with the first overseas battalion of the Dufferin Rifles, being later transferred to a battalion at the front in which there have been from the first many from Brantford. His brother Private George Ernest Lowe was reported officially to have been killed in action on July 28 of this year.

LOWE, Samuel – At St. Joseph’s Hospital, Brantford on Sunday, March 26, 1989, in his 94th year, Samuel Lowe; beloved wife of the late Dorothy Lowe; loving father of Vernon and his wife, Dorothy; Kenneth and his wife, Mavis; Robert and his wife, Joyce, all of Brantford; dear brother of Miss Beatrice Lowe, Toronto; loving grandfather of seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.  Samuel Lowe was a retired employee of the Brantford Board of Education, where he worked for 35 years; member of Sydenham United Church and of Reba Lodge A.F. and A.M. No. 515; served in France during the First World War, Canadian Expeditionary Force No. 125th Battalion.  Friends will be received at the McCleister Funeral Home, 30 Brant Avenue, Monday, 7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral service in the Chapel Tuesday at 1.30 p.m. Rev. Allan Johnston of Sydenham United Church will officiate.  Interment Mount Hope Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Brant County Lung Association gratefully appreciated.
