BX October 2, 1917

Mrs. C. Lane, city, has received word that her father, Private Sheldon Crumback was wounded in the back and gassed on September 14 and is now at Camiers Hospital, France. Pte. Crumback was previously wounded on August 14 in the hip, but returned to the front. Mrs. Crumback received the news at Washington and forwarded it to her daughter here.

BX September 26, 1918

Word has been received that Private Sheldon Crumback, who left here with the 125th Battalion, has been severely wounded in action. The word came from Mrs. Crumback, who is now in Washington, and particulars are being awaited. Pte. Crumback formerly conducted the Tea Pot Inn in this city.

CRUMBACK – At Ontario Hospital, London, Sunday morning, February 19, 1939, Sheldon Crumback, in his 69th year.  Private funeral service Wednesday 22nd at 2.30 from residence of Charles McIntyre, Oakland.  Interment in Oakland Cemetery.

Sheldon Crumback

The funeral of Sheldon Crumback was conducted Wednesday afternoon from the home of his sister, Mrs. Charles McIntyre, Oakland.  Rev. Mr. Wood conducted the service and interment was in the Oakland Cemetery.  Mr. Crumback passed away Sunday morning at the Ontario Hospital at London.  He was born in Middleville, Michigan, sixty-nine years ago and was the eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Crumback, Oakland.  For several years Mr. Crumback conducted the Tea Pot Inn in Brantford.  During the war he enlisted with the 125th Battalion of Brantford in June, 1916, and sailed in August.  He saw active service in France and was twice wounded.  After the war he returned to Brantford.  Besides his widow, three children survive.  Mrs. Charles Land and Edward, Chicago, and Mrs. Starr, Denver Colorado.  A sister, Mrs. Charles McIntyre and two brothers, Merritt and George, both of Oakland, also survive.
