Siragan Siroonian Awarded Military Medal

Private Siragan Siroonian, a local man has been awarded the Military Medal. The man, an Armenian, has been wearing the ribbon of his decoration for some time, and as his address was not known, headquarters of the D.S.C.R., Toronto sent on a notice to Mr. J.F. Shute of the local service bureau informing him that medal was now available. The man is to go to Dundurn Park, Hamilton as a representative from Brantford to be decorated by H.R.H. Prince of Wales on October 18.

Siragan Siroonian

A resident of Brantford for 25 years, Siragan Siroonian, 196 Market Street, died in the Brantford General Hospital this morning. He was 48 years of age. Mr. Siroonian enlisted in 1914 and served in France with the 114th Battalion, C.E.F., being transferred to the R.C.R., and decorated by the Prince of Wales for bravery on the field of battle. Left to mourn his loss are his widow and two children, Madeline and Harold Siroonian. The funeral will be conducted Saturday afternoon from the Beckett Funeral Home, with interment in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Siragan Siroonian

The funeral of Siragan Siroonian was conducted Saturday afternoon, with interment in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery. A service at the Beckett Funeral Home was in charge of Rev. E.C. McCullough, padre of the Canadian Legion, assisted by W. Ross Macdonald, President of the Legion branch. Ven. Archdeacon A.L.G. Clarke conducted a public service in Grace Anglican Church and officiated also at the committal service at the graveside. Bugler H. Porter sounded “Last Post.” The pallbearers were fellow-members of the Canadian Legion: R. Carey, D. Royd, S. Lowe, A. Grimshaw, M. Foran and G. Webb.
