Cainsville Man is Mentioned – Sergeant Stanley Harris Clark of the Forestry Corps is Cited in Letter

General Humbert in command of the Third French Army, to which is attached the 76th Canadian Forestry Corps, is delighted with the splendid showing made by the Canadians.

His commendation has been given expression in the following letter written to Capt. M.D. MacKeigan, the officer in command:

The forestry operations entrusted to the 51st, 55th and 76th companies of the Canadian Forestry Corps on the territory of the 3rd Army have been conducted with the greatest ability and the results obtained were remarkably successful, notwithstanding the risky surroundings under which these operations were carried out.

Under heavy artillery fire, these three companies have given in all circumstances a beautiful example of courage in accomplishing their professional duties.

The general commanding the 3rd Army addresses a testimony of his entire satisfaction to the officers, N.C.O.’s and men of these units.  He congratulates particularly, for their brave attitude worthy of excellent praise, the following officers and men of the 76th Company: - Capt. Murdock Daniel MacKeigan, Lieut. H.J. Murtagh, Sergt. S.H. Clark, Sergt.-Major W.F. Schmell, Sergt. A.H. Tremblay, Corp. J.D. Munro, Pte. H.P. Wilson.

Signed
Humbert
