With the Kilties

In a letter from her son, Private Walter Brooks, Mrs. G. Brooks of 21 Ontario Street, learns that he has transferred from the 84th Battalion, which is now at Bramshott Camp, to the 73rd Highlanders of Montreal.  Pte. Walter Brooks has two brothers in the 125th battalion and his father is now at the front.

Walter G. Brooks

Walter G. Brooks of 55 Chatham Street, died suddenly Wednesday in Brantford in his 67th year.  Born at Lower Sydenham, Kent, Eng., Mr. Brooks was the son of the late George and Sarah Brooks, and was a resident of Brantford for 49 years.  He was an employee of Canada Valve and Hydrant Company, retiring in 1960.  Mr. Brooks was a veteran of the First World War enlisting in the 84th Battalion and served overseas with the 73rd Scottish Regiment.  He was a member of Branch 90, Canadian Legion, and a member of Grace Anglican Church.  Surviving are Mrs. Brooks, the former Ada Hutchison; one son, Frederick G. of Ottawa; one daughter, Miss Shirley I., at home; four sisters, Mrs. Robert (Agnes) Price, Miss Alice, Miss Amy and Miss Ann Brooks, all of Brantford, Four brothers and one sister predeceased him. Mr. Brooks is resting at Hill and Robinson Funeral Home until Saturday for service in the chapel at 3.30 p.m.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.  Archdeacon F.C. McRitchie will officiate.
