BX June 30, 1916

Mrs. Margaret Welch, 140 Marlborough Street, received official notification this afternoon that her husband, Pte. Walter Welch was in the King George Hospital, London on June 21 with a gunshot wound in the thigh.

He was a member of the 36th Battalion. Previous to enlistment he was a carpenter. He had had not previous military experience.

WELCH – In the Brantford General Hospital, on Tuesday April 15, 1969, Walter Welch (member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 90 Legion and honorary life member of the Imperial British Comrades Association) in his 82nd year, of 45 Walnut Street, husband of the late Margaret Marks; dear father of Herbert A., Howard R., Edward H. all of Brantford, brother of Kate of London, England; also survived by 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  Resting at Hill and Robinson Limited Funeral Home, Nelson and Queen Streets until Thursday. Service in the chapel at 3.30 p.m.  Interment, Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.  Rev. J.A. MacCallum will officiate.  Contributions to your favourite charity would be appreciated.
