W.H. Ankers
William Henry (Harry) Ankers, vice-president of the Massey-Harris Football club and well known lover of sport in Brantford died at his home 52 Edward Street, on Friday. His death is the cause of sincere regret by a host of friends in city and vicinity, as he was very popular among his fellow employees in the Massey-Harris factory and in sporting and fraternal circles. Deceased went home from work on Tuesday complaining of not feeling well Wednesday, while working in the garden, he was suddenly overcome with pains in the head and on Friday he passed away. Friends state he was bothered at times from severed wounds indirectly; this was the cause of his lamented death. The late Mr. Ankers was born in Hope, Wales 39 years ago. He came to Brantford as a young man, 16 years ago, and has been a resident of the city ever since. When war broke out, he answered the call, enlisting in the 19th Battalion and served under Major Newman. His service in the army totaled five years. Deceased is survived by his wife and one son, Reginald. Four brothers, John, Albert, Thomas and James are living in the old country. He was a member of trinity Church, also a member in good standing of the Sons of England and Brant lodge A.F. and A.M. The funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon at 4:15 o’clock to Mount Hope cemetery, where burial will take place.

Appropriate memorial services were held on Sunday afternoon for the late William Henry Ankers at the late home of the deceased and also at the graveside in Mount Hope cemetery. Rev. C.H.P. Owen officiated while the Masonic order had charge of funeral services. The attendance was very large, testifying to the esteem in which the deceased was held among a large circle of friends. The war veterans and the Massey-Harris Football club attended in a body. The pall bearers were Major Newman, Jesse Gibbs, Dave Morrison, George Glanville, Ashley Sayles and S.G. Macklin.
