Pte. W. Appleby on Wounded List

Word has been received by Mrs. Horner, Fulton Street, Grandview, that Private William Appleby, who formerly lived there, had been wounded in the Somme region on Sept. 21. Pte. Appleby enlisted with the 36th Battalion and was transferred to the 1st Battalion. He was wounded in the left upper arm and is also suffering from trench fever. He is now in the East Leeds War Hospital. Appleby, who is an Englishman, had lived in Brantford for two years and was a laborer on contracting jobs.
