William Charles Brown

William C. Brown, 75 of 21 Allenby Avenue, died Saturday in the Brantford General Hospital.  He was born in London, England, and came to Canada 58 years ago, and had resided in Brantford for the past 50 years.  Mr. Brown served with the 125th Battalion during the First World War and was a retired employee of Barber-Ellis with over 40 years’ service.  He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and was honorary vice-president.  He was a member of the 25 Year Club of the Legion and served in the band.  For many years he served as president and secretary and was a life member of the 125th Battalion Association.  He was also a member of Holy Trinity Church and the American Federation of Musicians.  Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Gladys) Farley of St. Catharines; three sisters, Miss Lily, Miss Ethel and Mrs. Sydney (Mabel) Griggs all of Clacton-on-Sea, England.  He was predeceased by his wife, the former Laura Richards.  Mr. Brown is at the Beckett Funeral Home for service Tuesday at 2 p.m.  Rev. C.S. Inder of Holy Trinity Church will officiate. Interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.
