William Collins

William (Bill) Collins, Blossom Avenue, Cainsville, husband of Amelia (Min) Moore Collins, died Sunday at the Winston Pavilion, in his 58th year.  He was born at Watford, England, came to Canada in 1911 and lived in and around Brantford since.  He was a veteran of the First World War, enlisting in 1916 with the Lord Strathcona Cavalry and serving overseas.  He was a sheet metal worker by trade operating a shop on Blossom Avenue.  He was a member of Mohawk Lodge No. 452, IOOF, and was a junior officer until failing health forced him to relinquish these duties.  He was a member of the Ancient Mystic Order of Samaritans, and in England a member of the Ancient Order Antediluvian Buffaloes.  Mr. Collins was a member of Grace Anglican Church.  Surviving, besides his widow, are one son, William Albert, at home and two, daughters, Mrs. William (Dorothy) Morgenshweis, and Mrs. Howard (Joy) Whittam; one brother, Arthur Collins; one sister, Mrs. Martin (Ethel) Postill and two grandchildren, Friedrich and Wendy Morgenshweis, all of Brantford.  Mr. Collins is resting at the Hill and Robison Funeral Home for service at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel.  Interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.

William Collins

The funeral of William Collins was conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Hill and Robinson Chapel with Rev. J.C. Coles officiating. There was a gathering of relatives and friends in attendance, and there were floral tributes.  The pallbearers were A. Evans, G. Schertzberg, G. Laskey, B. Simons, P. Brummell and A. Andrews, all members of Mohawk Lodge, IOOF, No. 452. Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.  On Monday evening, members of Mohawk Lodge gathered for a memorial service under Noble Grand Andy Andrews and Chaplain George Laskey, assisted by past officers and brethren.
