Four Names on Brant County Casualty List – Privates Thompson and Crabtree, City, Flavelle, Paris, and Cooke, St. George – All Wounded

A long list of casualties received shortly before noon today contained the names of several more Brantford or Brant County men who have been wounded on the battlefields. 

Private W. Cooke is also given as a married man, 38 years of age, who left here with the 38th Dufferin Rifles contingent in July 1915. He came here and enlisted from St. George.

COOKE – At his residence, 16 Sussex Street, on Sunday, March 30, 1975, William Cooke in his 95th year, husband of Elizabeth Walters; dear father of Leslie of Paris, Gilbert of St. Catharines, Donald, Mrs. Ada Ellar, Mrs. Elva Vipond all of Brantford, Mrs. Lena Woodey of Port Dover; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.  Mr. Cooke was a veteran of the First World War.  Resting at Hill and Robinson Ltd., Funeral Home, Nelson and Queen Streets, until Tuesday.  Service in the chapel at 1 p.m.  Interment Soldiers’ Plot Mount Hope Cemetery, Rev. Douglas Black will officiate.
