BX March 19, 1947

William Davis

William Davis, 168 Dalhousie Street, passed away at his home Sunday.  He was the husband of Mary McGrandles.  Born in Richwood, Ont., 68 years ago, he had resided in Brantford most of his life.  He served overseas with the 125th Battalion, C.E.F., during the First World War.  He attended the Salvation Army Citadel.  Besides his widow, he leaves to mourn his loss, two daughters, Miss Dorothy Davis, Vanessa, and Mrs. Ellen Berry, Toronto; two step-sons, James and John Grey, Brantford, and five step-daughters, Mrs. James Chapman (Agnes) City; Mrs. William Stoddard (Esther), Scotland; Mrs. Phil King (Jean), City’ Mrs. Roy Scott (Bertha), Ingersoll, and Mrs. Les Box (Mabel), City.  He is resting at the Beckett Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be conducted Wednesday afternoon and interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.

William Davis

The funeral of William Davis was conducted yesterday afternoon from the Beckett Funeral Home to the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.  Major J. H. Bond, of the Salvation Army, was in charge.  The Last Post was sounded by Bugler Robert McGregor. Pallbearers, all members of Branch 90 of the Canadian Legion, and under the leadership of Comrade E.R. Edwards, were J. Turner, H. Kneller, G. Gaydon, J. Lune, D. Monkman and A. Mattice.
