BX May 26, 1917

Word has been received in the city from Mrs. W.G. Grimster of Plymouth, England to the effect that her son, Lance Corporal William John Grimster has been wounded. This intimation is not official. Lance-Corp. Grimster formerly worked at the Cockshutt Plow Co., and is single. He went overseas in the battalion commanded by Lieut.-Col. E.C. Ashton.

William John Grimster

William John Grimster, 76, 3 Riddolls Avenue, died Saturday in the Brantford General Hospital.  He was born in Plymouth, England and came to Brantford in 1910.  Mr. Grimster was a veteran of the First World War, serving with the 36th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force.  He was a member of the Anglican Church.  He was also a member of Branch 90 of the Canadian Legion and of the Quarter Century Club of Massey-Ferguson Industries Limited.  Mr. Grimster was an employee of Massey-Ferguson for 36 years, retiring in 1956.  Surviving are his wife, May Ransom Grimster, two sons, Donald and Howard both of Brantford; two grandchildren.  Mr. Grimster will be at Beckett Funeral Home from Sunday evening for services Tuesday at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.  Rev. J.H. McCallum, padre of Branch 90 will officiate.
