BX August 28, 1917

Wounded and Gassed

Mrs. Hickson, 63 Park Avenue, has been officially notified that her son, Private William Hickson had been wounded and gassed on Aug. 16. Prior to enlisting Pte. Hickson was an employee of the Massy-Harris Company here and he went overseas with the first overseas battalion of the Dufferin Rifles.

BX August 5, 1947

William Hickson

William Hickson, 220 West Street, died suddenly in the Brantford general Hospital Monday morning, in his fifty-fourth year. Born in Wolverhampton, England, he came to this City thirty-six years ago, and had resided here since.  He was employed by the Universal Cooler Company, Ltd.  Mr. Hickson was a veteran of the First Great War, leaving Brantford with the 125th Battalion, and servicing three years in France.  Besides his widow, the former Winnifred Stover, he is survived by four sisters, Mrs. G. Brown, the Misses Maude and Annie Hickson, and Mrs. A. Jones, all of this City, and a stepson, Barry Stover, at home.  He is resting at the Reid and Brown Funeral Chapel until Thursday afternoon, when the funeral service will take place.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

William Hickson

Funeral services for William Hickson were held yesterday afternoon at the Reid and Brown Funeral Chapel and in Mount Hope Cemetery with Rev. F.W. Showell, of Gospel Alliance Tabernacle, in charge.  Relatives and friends from Brantford and out of town points were present.  Pallbearers were J. Hales, B. Manning, W. Price, L. Savory, W. Pamplin and B.F. Jackson.
