Letters and documents

BX November 14, 1917

Mrs. Nellie Truckle, 52 Nelson Street, has just received word that her son, Arthur Truckle, infantry was reported wounded, at No. 44 Casualty Clearing Station, on Nov. 5, with gunshot wound in the chest. This is the second time he was figured in the casualty lists in three months. He was in the employ of the Grand Opera House before enlisting. The last letter was written October 16. He said he had gone back to his battalion and had enjoyed the white sheets.

In yesterday’s casualty list Private Arthur Truckle was reported wounded. This should have read Pte. William Arthur Truckle as he is better known around the city as “Willie.”
