Fireman Retiring after Long Service

Fireman Albert Ott, a member of the Brantford Fire Department for the past 27 years, will retire on Saturday.

A veteran of the First Great War serving overseas with the 125th Battalion from 1915 to 1919, he joined the local Department on Christmas Day, 1919.  He had three sons who saw service in the Second Great War.  Pte. Gordon Ott was killed in action in Italy in 1944 while serving with the Prince Edward Highlanders.  He was just 17 years old.  Another son, Pte. George Ott, served with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry and was seriously wounded at Dieppe.  Pte. Marshall Ott is stationed at Chippewa with the Irish Regiment.

Always popular with the other firemen, his retirement has been received with regret.
