John William Ball
The death of John W. Ball, Paris, beloved husband of Lillian Hastings, took place Thursday morning, June 2 in the Willett Hospital in his fifty-second year. The late Mr. Ball is resting at his home, 51 Ball Street, Paris. The funeral service will be held at St. James’ Anglican Church, Paris, Saturday afternoon, with interment in Paris Cemetery.

The funeral service of John W. Ball, who died on Thursday, June 2 in the Willett Hospital, Paris, in his fifty-second year, was held this afternoon at 2 o’clock at St. James’ Anglican Church, rev. H.K.L. Charlton officiating. The service was semi-military and Rev. L.R. Ballantyne, Chaplain of the Paris Brant of the Canadian Legion, B.E.S.L., No. 29 took charge at the graveside. The pallbearers, all veterans were J. Richardson, E. Thurman, W.H. Tucker, Alf Spencer, Ben Garner and Ted Spencer. The reveille and the Last Post were sounded by Bugler Walter Williams. Mr. Ball had a long and honorable service in France during the Great War. He went over from Paris with the 125th Battalion and was drafted to France in the fall of 1916 and remained there till the Armistice. Then he went through Germany and was discharged from home in February, 1919, coming back with the same regional unit that he went over with. He was a valued member of the local Branch of the Canadian Legion.
