For some time past Brantford has fared lightly in the casualty lists, but now that drafts from the 125th Battalion are in the firing line reports are more frequent. Today the first member of the first Brant County Battalion is reported killed in action, in the person of Private Bertram Arthur Woodcock who was killed on January 25. He was the oldest son of E.H. Woodcock, Huron Street, 30 years of age, single and formerly worked at the Massey-Harris factory. Private Woodcock was born in Birmingham, England, but has been a resident of Canada for over nine years.
