Horace Valentine Bateman

Horace V. Bateman, 74 of 3 Burwell Street, Paris, died Sunday at the Willett Hospital, Paris.  Mr. Bateman was born in Nottingham, England, and had been a resident of Paris for 52 years.  He had been employed with the Woods and Ticknell Grocery Store and was a member of St. Paul’s United Church and choir.  He was a veteran of the First World War and a member of the Sons of England.  His wife, the former Emily Grigg, died 10 years ago.  Surviving is one daughter, Doris, of Toronto; one brother and five sisters in England.  Mr. Bateman is at the Bruce B. Smith Funeral Home, Paris, where service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in Paris Cemetery with Rev. Stanley Tose officiating.
