Dr. John Joseph Montgomery

The death of Dr. J.J. Montgomery, V.S., occurred suddenly of heart trouble at his home, 1571 Parent Blvd., Windsor, where he has practiced his profession for seven years.  Dr. Montgomery, was born in Brantford 42 years ago, the youngest son of Mr. David Montgomery and the late Julia Montgomery.  Dr. Montgomery was one of the first to enlist for the Great War, sailing with the first contingent from Valcartier.  He served as a farrier sergeant for four years and nine months.  He is survived by his widow, formerly Miss Marry Hutton, his father, Mr. J.D. Montgomery, and one brother, Mr. F.J. Montgomery.  The funeral takes place Tuesday morning from the residence of his brother, 120 Brock Street, city, to St. Mary’s Church.

The funeral of Dr. J.J. Montgomery, V.S., took place yesterday morning from the home of his brother, F.J. Montgomery, 120 Brock Street, to St. Mary’s church where requiem high mass was sung by Rev. Mons. W.C. Gehl, who also officiated at the graveside in St. Joseph’s cemetery. The pallbearers were: John O’Reilly, John Trepanier, John Ryan, E.L. Martin, Charles Mitchell, jr., and Harry Hawkings.
