Private John Pratt, Dundas Street, Is Reported Wounded

In the official casualty lists, Private John Pratt, 11389, has been reported wounded. Pratt, who enlisted with the First Contingent, was through all the fighting with the “Mad Fourth” battalion until wounded. His wife removed to the old land and died there in December last. His mother Mrs. Mary Pratt, resides at 16 Rose Avenue, but has no word as to the casualty, outside of the official list. This is accounted for by the fact that his wife was in England and the details would probably be sent there. Enquiries have been instituted for further particulars. Another brother, Harry is with the 84th Battalion.

A short time ago The Expositor reported the wounding of Private John Pratt. It was stated then that his wife had gone back to England where she had died. No particulars of the wounding were received here as they had been sent to England. At the suggestion of The Expositor, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pratt, 16 Rose Avenue, applied to the Records Office at Ottawa for particulars. The Records Office promptly forwarded the news that Private Pratt is now at No. 8 Stationary Hospital, Wimereux, suffering from a contusion of the arm. The records officials have cabled to London for further details.
