Lorne Watson Coming Home

Included in a load of invalided soldiers who reached Quebec this morning from Halifax is Lorne David Watson, of Brantford. Lorne is a son of Dr. Watson of Brant Avenue, and went overseas with a draft from the McGill University Corps.

Invalided Home

Word was received this morning by Ald. J.S. Dowling, chairman of the Soldiers’ Aid Commission, from Lorne Watson, who arrived home from the front last week, stating that he would arrive in the city tonight. Leaving Toronto at 6 o’clock and arriving here at 7.32. He will be met by members of the Soldiers’ Aid Commission and others.

Illness Brings Pte. Watson home – In England Only Six Weeks When Taken Sick – In Hospital for Five Months

Private Lorne David Watson of the P.P.C.L.I., slipped unostentatiously into the city on Saturday evening, after an absence of about six months. Although he left filled with a desire to get to the trenches and have a crack at the Huns, Providence willed otherwise and after he had been in England about six weeks he was stricken with acute bronchitis and pleurisy. Ever since that time he has been in hospitals and convalescent homes in England, where he states he received the best of care and treatment. Pte. Watson left here with the Fifth University Corps in March of this year, and although he has had a long siege of sickness he is now feeling quite well again.

Lorne David Watson Passed Away

The death is announced to have taken place in Los Angeles, on June 19 of Lorne David Watson, this city. He leaves a widow to mourn his loss. Deceased was overseas with the Princess Pats and has many friends in Brantford, who will be sincerely sorry to hear of his demise.
