Circumstances of Casualty: Died of Wounds (Shrapnel Wounds Legs and Left Hand). At about 3 o’clock on the morning of July 21st, 1918, he was “standing to” at his post in Dee Trench near Arras, when an enemy 4.1 shell exploded in the bay severely wounding him. After receiving immediate attention from the stretcher bearers, he was evacuated to a Field Ambulance and later to No. 57 Casualty Clearing Station where he died about 3.45 p.m. the same day.

G.M. Giloch, 22 Cayuga Street, has just received word that Private Percy Wasley Caudle, who left here with the 215th Battalion was severely wounded on July 21, and died of wounds the same day while undergoing an operation. He was hit in both legs and in the hand. Private Caudle was formerly employed as shipping clerk at the Massey-Harris plant in this city. He had also served as a volunteer in the South African War.
