Robert Melvin Burns

The death took place this morning at his home, 60 Palmerston Avenue, of Robert Melvin (Buzz) Burns, in his fifty-fourth year, Deceased war born at Niagara-on-the Lake, and was for some time connected with the Brantford Branch of the Bank of Hamilton.  He served overseas during the last war, and was then for 20 years associated with the First National Bank, Detroit, retiring in August of this year.  Mr. Burns was am member of Brant Avenue United Church.  Surviving is one sister, Miss Kate Burns of this City.  His father, Robert C. Burns, predeceased him in April, 1940 as did another sister, Miss Jean Burns, in July 1937.  Mr. Burns is resting at Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home until Saturday afternoon, when the funeral will take place to Greenwood Cemetery.

R.M. (Buzz) Burns

The funeral of Robert Melvin Burns, 60 Palmerston Avenue, was conducted Saturday afternoon from Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home.  Rev. Dr. C.M. Currie of Brant Avenue United Church was in charge of the service, which was attended by a large gathering of friends.  Their presence, as well as the profusion of floral tokens, indicated the esteem in which deceased was held.  Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, the pallbearers being George White, H.J. Hartley, Joseph Bond, Fred Hetherington, Cyril Henderson and Jim Robinson.
