Samuel Kemp Gibson Awarded Military Medal

Mrs. Elizabeth Gibson yesterday received the medal which was presented to her son, Sergeant Samuel Kemp Gibson on October 7, 1918 for bravery on the field of battle. Sergeant Samuel Gibson enlisted with the 222nd Battalion, a Manitoba battalion, and on reaching England was transferred to the 44th Battalion. Sergeant Gibson has been wounded three times and wound his stripes on the field. On November 9 just two days before the armistice was signed, Sergeant Gibson was given a bar to his medal.

Samuel Kemp Gibson Reported Wounded

Mrs. Elizabeth Gibson, Richardson Street today received a yellow message from Ottawa bearing the tidings that her son Private Samuel Kemp Gibson had been admitted to No. 13 Stationary Hospital at Boulogne on May 8 suffering from a gunshot wound in the back. He enlisted with a battalion from Manitoba having been in Western Canada for nine years at Medora, Man., where he was farming. He was a single man.

Samuel Kemp Gibson Wounded for a Second Time 

Mrs. Elizabeth Gibson, 14 Richardson Street, today received a telegram from Ottawa stating that her son, Corporal Samuel Kemp Gibson was wounded on June 6 and admitted to Norfolk War Hospital, Norwich. This is the second time in a very short time that he has been wounded. Corp. Gibson is an old Brantford boy who left here nine years ago to take up farming in the west. He enlisted in February, 1916, at Deloraine, Manitoba, in the 222nd Battalion, and upon reaching England was transferred.

Samuel Kemp Gibson Wounded for a Third Time

Mrs. Elizabeth Gibson, 14 Richardson Street, received a telegram from Ottawa this morning that her son, Lance Sergeant Samuel Kemp Gibson had been admitted to the 74th General Hospital at Tronville, Aug. 22 suffering from gunshot wound in the left arm. Sergeant Gibson enlisted at Deloraine, Man. in the 222nd Battalion. This makes the third time that he has been wounded.
