Gunner Thomas Webster Was Suffocated – News Received of Death in France of Brant Dragoons Man

The sad intelligence was received by wire from Ottawa on Wednesday by his wife of the death by suffocation on February 19, in France, of Gunner Tommy Webster, 7845. He left Brantford on January 18, 1915, with the second contingent, 25th Brant Dragoons, and later was transferred to the Canadian Artillery. At the time of enlistment he resided at 29 Edward Street, Eagle Place. He was 34 years of age, and leaves to mourn his loss a sorrowing wife and one son aged 13 years, who are now residing with Mrs. Webster’s sister, Mrs. C. Knowles, 91 Mohawk Street.

Brantford Casualties

Three Brantford men are also mentioned in the big weekend, casualty list. Privates Eric Milton and Francis John Mavin are both reported missing, and Private Thomas Webster, 29 Edward Street with the artillery is officially reported as having died. Private Webster is a married man and went overseas with a draft from the 25th Brant Dragoons in January 1915. Particulars of the latter were given some days ago.
