Circumstances of Casualty: Died of Wounds (Shrapnel wounds right chest and legs fractured). This soldier was severely wounded by enemy shell fire while taking part in the operations at Upton Wood. He was evacuated to No. 3 Canadian Field Ambulance where he succumbed to his wounds.
