Wilfred Henry Gibbs

Wilfred Henry Gibbs, 64, of 46 Walnut Street, died suddenly on Monday at his residence. Mr. Gibbs was born at London, Ont., the son of the late William and Bertha Totten Gibbs, and had been a resident of Brantford for the past 59 years. Prior to his retirement in July of this year, he had been employed with the Cockshutt Farm Equipment Limited for a number of years. Since the death of his father in 1949, Mr. Gibbs had been a part-time organizer for Brantford Branch No. 12 of the Woodmen of the World. He was a member of Balfour Street United Church and served overseas with the 125th Battalion during the First World War. Surviving, besides his wife, the former Emma Harmer, are two daughters, Mrs. John (Muriel) Wilson and Mrs. Walter (Jean) Cooper, both of this city; two sons, William C. and Stanley both of Brantford; one sister, Mrs. George (Dorothy) Webb, of Brantford; one brother, William E. also of Brantford; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Gibbs is at Thorpe Brothers; Funeral Home, where service will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m., with interment in Mount Hope Cemetery. Rev. Victor A. Wilkinson, minister of Balfour Street United Church will officiate.
