Wounded and Gassed

One of a large number of the fateful yellow messages from the militia department at Ottawa, received in the city yesterday was at the home of Dr. J.W. Porter, 57 Chatham Street, bearing the news that his nephew, Sapper William Clement Daniel had been gassed and wounded. The telegram stated that he had been admitted to No. 10 Clearing Station in France on September 16. Before going overseas with the 32nd Battery he was a time-keeper at the Waterous Engine Works.

Returned to Duty

Miss Emily Bridges, 66 Marlboro Street, has received two cables telling of the condition of Sapper William Clement Daniel. The first reported that he had been admitted to the 10th Field Ambulance on Sept. 16, with shell and gas wound. The second stated that he had rejoined his regiment Oct. 14 after suffering from gas poisoning.
