Reported Wounded

Private W.R. Fielding has been wounded and admitted to a hospital at Wimereux, according to a telegram received by his mother, Mrs. Thomas Fielding, 321 Dalhousie Street. A year ago last month Private Fielding enlisted with the Canadian Mounted Rifles and transferred on reaching England. Although the telegram received by his mother stated that he was with an infantry battalion, this morning’s casualty states that he was with the artillery. Pte. Fielding was in Saskatoon and came home to enlist.

William Robert Fielding

William R. Fielding of 192 Brock Street, died today in the Brantford General Hospital.  He was born in the Gravenhurst district, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fielding, and had been a resident of Brantford for 50 years.  He was a former employee of the Brantford Produce Company and for 10 years previous to his retirement in 1954 was employed with the George Watt Wholesale grocers.  Mr. Fielding was a veteran of the First World War, enlisting with the Hamilton Mounted Rifles and served in France with the Fourth and Second Machine Gun companies.  He was a member of St. Jude’s Anglican Church.  Surviving are his wife, the former Sadie C. Keffer, one daughter, Mrs. Duncan (Mary Margaret) Petrie of Trenton; two sisters, MRS. Claude (Estelle) Snider of Gravenhurst, Mrs. Walter (Beatrice) Parson of Windsor; also two grandsons.  He was predeceased by two sisters, Miss Maude Fielding and Mrs. Vernon Cartwright.  Mr. Fielding is at the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home from Friday morning until Saturday for service at 3.30 p.m.  Interment will be in Farringdon Burial Ground with Rev. R.A.E. Ruch officiating.
